Just wanted to report some college commitments from head coach Tom Gallahue and give an update on some top players from a Manalapan team that went 5-5 in the fall and returns a host of talent next season in the newly created Class A North.

Senior wide receiver Kevin Cruz, an All Shore Media first-team All-County selection with over 1,100 yards receiving, will continue his career at Shippensburg University, senior offensive tackle Mike Orlando is headed to Kean University, senior center Frank Gyimesi is going to Lackawanna (Pa.) Junior College, senior defensive tackle Mike Seminerio will play for FDU-Florham and senior defensive end Johnny Dokouslis is bound for Rowan.

As for the current junior class, add quarterback Mike Bimonte to what may be the most loaded class in the history of the Shore Conference as far as Division I-A talent is concerned. Bimote has sprouted three inches to 6-foot-4 since the season ended in December. He already has offers from several Division I-AA programs, and the following schools have all been in to see him in person: Holy Cross, Monmouth University, Boston College, Villanova, Purdue, Central Michigan and Bryant University. Gallahue has also fielded calls from Penn State, Maryland and Syracuse. Bimonte looks to be Manalapan’s most highly-recruited player since former running back/linebacker Corey Brooks, a 2001 Manalapan grad who went on to play at Syracuse.

Also, junior fullback/linebacker Charlie Adessi, junior 1,000-yard rusher Josh Firkser and defensive end James DeBlase have all received Division I-AA interest. The Braves certainly look to be a prime contender in Class A North against the likes of Middletown South and Howell and should have one of the most high-octane offenses in the Shore with Bimonte, Firkser and more in the backfield.
