Posted by Bob Badders

As reported by the Asbury Park Press, Manalapan rising senior quarterback Michael Bimonte  verbally accepted a scholarship to Rutgers University on Friday. Bimonte threw for 1,589 yards and 15 touchdowns during the regular season for the Braves and will enter the 2010 season as one of the Shore Conference’s top signal callers on a Manalapan team that looks ready to challenge for the Class A North title.

Bimonte’s stock has risen fast over the past  year as he has grown into a 6-foot-4, 215-pound frame and has impressed at various football camps and 7-on-7 tournaments. He is the fourth Shore Conference senior to make a commitment to a Division-I A program and second to choose Rutgers. Neptune senior running back/wide receiver Charles Davis is also headed to Rutgers while Barnegat quarterback Nick San Giacomo has verballed to Tulane and Raritan offensive lineman Shane Mertz has committed to Northwestern.
