Middletown South senior quarterback Scott Meeker will be out 2-3 weeks because of a partially fractured fibula in his left leg suffered early in a 17-0 win over Freehold Township this past Friday, according to Eagles head coach Steve Antonucci. That means back-up Howie Brey, a junior who played extensively in the Freehold Township game and has seen snaps in other games, will step in for Meeker, who had eight touchdown passes and also ran for a touchdown in the Eagles’ first two games before getting hurt.

Another significant injury this past weekend was Raritan senior wide receiver/safety Kevin Furlong, who suffered a high ankle sprain in the Rockets’ loss to Matawan and will be out for two weeks, according to Raritan coach Anthony Petruzzi. That means he will miss A Central games vs. St. John Vianney and Red Bank. He scored Raritan’s only touchdown in the 45-6 loss to Matawan and had three interceptions and the game-winning touchdown catch a week earlier against Manasquan.
